Greg James was able to fulfil a viral dream after being faced with Jill Hatton who became a meme sensation following her appearance on This Morning.
Jill previously became beloved viral gold after appearing on the show in March this year, where her three daughter’s planned a Mother’s Day surprise which didn’t go exactly as planned.
Along with a special meal and a TV via Alison Hammond, Ainsley Harriott also descended upon Jill’s home with a frying pan – spawning the notorious, ‘Why hello Jill’, catchphrase.
Months after her first appearance, Jill returned to the show with daughter Holly from France to discuss the moment.
‘I could just about take it all in,’ Jill said. ‘But it’s almost as though it didn’t happen. But I’d like to say thank you very much for all you did.’
Asked if she was surprised by the reaction, Jill said: ‘Absolutely staggered. I had no idea at all.’
Greg James, who pushed the viral hit on BBC Radio One, was even beamed from his home in Oxfordshire to be given a reward to his dedication – saying ‘why hello Jill’ to the woman herself.
‘My year is complete. I’m done, I’ve peaked,’ Greg said. ‘That’s the end, this is the best. Jill you a star of Radio One, of This Morning, but also you’re a viral sensation.’
Asked if people shout it to her in the street by Greg, Jill said: ‘They did for a long time afterwards.’
You can catch This Morning weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
