JOSE MOURINHO has admitted he would have preferred to sign Ivan Perisic instead of Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.
The Manchester United chief missed out on the Croatia wide man in the summer of 2017 – and landed Sanchez the following January.

Mourinho is a big fan of Inter Milan ace Perisic and did everything he could to tempt him to Old Trafford.
But after failing to get a deal done, United swooped for Sanchez, 29, in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Chile winger has been raking in £505,000-a-week ever since, while contributing little on the field.

At 29, the Croat’s value will soon be declining and, unlike Sanchez, he would have cost a tidy sum to bring in.

The Times insists Sanchez – who has four years remaining on his deal – already wants to leave United after a miserable return of four goals in 28 appearances.
He is said to be lonely and isolated in the dressing room, while a split from his girlfriend has caused issues off the field.
United are unlikely to undergo wholesale changes in January but could try to shift the Chile internationals’ wages off their books if they can find a suitor.
