Sonora, CA – The CHP has released further information regarding a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 108 at the Draper Mine Road intersection that stalled traffic during the evening commute on Wednesday.
As reported here, the collision happened around 6:15 p.m. the wreckage blocked the highway backing up traffic in both directions and stretching all the way from Standard Road to Soulsbyville Road. Sonora Unit CHP Officer Thomas Gowin details that Jeremy Dutoit of Sonora driving a Toyota Tacoma was stopped on the highway to make a left turn onto Draper Mine Road. He went to turn after a logging truck passed by and failed to notice a 2008 Ford F150 driven by Brian Dubois, also from Sonora, right behind the semi. The two trucks hit head-on. Both ended up on the south shoulder with the Ford off the roadway down the embankment and the Toyota partially blocking the eastbound lane. Gowin shares, “Miraculously, neither one was injured.”
Officers directed one-way traffic control for about 30 minutes. Draper Mine Road was shut down at the highway intersection for a little over an hour as tow crews worked to remove the Ford truck.
