Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard’s brother Curtis quits Irish version of the show after brutal nightclub attack left him needing surgery

AFTER being attacked in a nightclub brawl alongside his brother, Curtis Pritchard has been forced to quit the Irish version of the dance show.

Strictly pro-dancer AJ Pritchard was out with Curtis in a Nantwich club when the vicious assault was carried out by a gang of eight thugs.

Curtis is a pro-dancer on the Irish version of Strictly Come Dancing

An RTE spokesperson revealed: “Dancing with the Stars pro-dancer Curtis Pritchard was involved in an incident on 26 December 2018. As a result of the injuries sustained, he will not have recovered in time for the launch of the new series, which will air 6 January 2019.”

They added: “A replacement for Curtis on the show is currently being arranged and we look forward to welcoming Curtis back when he recovers.”

The Sun Online’s Bizarre column exclusively revealed earlier today that AJ, 23 and Curtis, 22, were repeatedly kicked and punched in the face during the attack.

A witness in Nantwich, Cheshire, said: “They were like men possessed.”

The pair were enjoying a night out with friends when the yobs suddenly circled them.

One clubber said: “The brothers were having a relaxed evening with friends and AJ was posing for selfies with a few fans.

“But the eight lads took a disliking to the brothers and pushed Curtis hard. Then they started punching them, like they were possessed.

“Curtis had fallen to his knees and was being punched in the face and body. They were also punching AJ in his face, in his ribs and legs. AJ dragged Curtis out of the circle and pulled him to another part of the club.

“AJ was left with marks from rings on his face. Curtis looked like he had passed out and AJ had to carry him to safety. It was like a scene from a wild west film with the bouncers fighting this group.”

Although the incident has caused loss of work for Curtis, his father Adrian Pritchard has revealed that both him and AJ are ‘coping well with everything under the circumstances’.

A spokesman for the brothers, visiting their parents for Christmas, said: “AJ and Curtis were assaulted in an unprovoked attack. Curtis is to undergo an emergency operation to correct damage to his knee. AJ received bruising to his face, arms, body and legs.”

Police said: “The four victims were taken to hospital for treatment. All have since been discharged.

“Officers arrested a 20-year-old man from Crewe on suspicion of assault. He has been released under investigation pending further inquiries.”

Since the attack, AJ’s Strictly pals have taken to social media to send their support to the brothers following their ordeal.

“So upset by the news about @Aj11Ace and @CurtisPritchard !! Two lovely guys that mean no harm to anyone ever!! I can not believe it. To the thugs that did that.. shall we dance???? #fuming” wrote Alijaz.
