A missing 2-year-old boy was found dead in a pond near his Southampton home Friday, police said.
The body of Adam Reed, 2, was pulled from the water and he was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Lawrence Peele said.
Peele said police were called to the area at 11 a.m. by “an adult” in Reed’s home saying that they could not find the boy.
After a short search they found Reed unresponsive in the pond, which is about 200 yards from his home, police said.
The state police were still investigating how the boy found his way from his home to the water, Peele said.
