Marvel’s hotly-anticipated new Vision and Scarlet Witch TV series just got a lot more promising with Captain Marvel writer Jac Shaeffer coming on board to write and serve as showrunner on the project.
The series, which is expected to star Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen in their Avengers roles, is one of several new shows Disney’s planning to roll out on its new streaming service, Disney+.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Schaeffer, who has also written the screenplay for Marvel’s Black Widow movie (keep talking, woah keep talking) and co-wrote Olaf’s Frozen Adventure (do you want to build a super snowman?), has been snapped up to pen the script for the pilot episode and will also executive produce the show.
That could be very good news for Marvel fans as every sneak peek at the upcoming Captain Marvel movie thus far has been pretty exciting. From scenes featuring a young Agent Coulson to delightful double act antics between Larson and Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury, the teasers have given us seriously high hopes about the film, which is heading to UK cinemas in March.
There’s plenty more MCU TV fun where that came from, with a full Loki TV series (starring Tom Hiddleston – we’re very excited) and what we hope will be a brilliant superhero buddy cop style team-up between Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) also on the cards. Plus, we’ve still got Avengers: Endgame to come on the big screen in April.
Oh, and Star Wars fans can of course look forward to their own Disney+ TV spin-off delights, with numerous Star Wars TV shows in the works including a Rogue One spin-off and The Mandalorian.
Game Of Thrones star Pedro Pascal will lead the cast of Jon Favreau’s Mandalorian, with Carl Weathers (Rocky), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) and director Werner Herzog also on board.
Do they even want us to go to the cinema any more?
The Vision and Scarlet Witch’s TV series is expected to air on Disney+ in 2019.
