Emma Bunton has defended Mel B’s absence from Spice Girls rehearsals – and revealed they’re working around her being on the other side world as they get ready for their reunion tour.

Mel, who is currently living and working in LA, has reportedly caused a bit of friction between herself and fellow band member Geri Horner, after making claims that they’d slept together in the 90s heyday of the girl group.

Geri has steadfastly denied the claims, and since then it’s been rumoured that the tour could’ve been cancelled altogether as they refuse to be in the same room as each other.

But, despite Mel skipping out on rehearsals and posing in her bikini on the first day of tour rehearsals yesterday, Emma revealed they’re using modern technology to make things work.

‘Me, Geri and Mel C were there [in rehearsals],’ Emma explained. ‘Mel B is rehearsing in LA because she’s got commitments and her children. So she’s rehearsing there, which is really funny, she learns the same steps as us. We were doing a bit of Facetiming. She’s doing the same thing.’

‘She comes over…soon,’ she added. ‘I think she’s coming over in the next few weeks, and then we all work together.’

Emma had previously admitted her worries that it was ‘all going to kick off’ between Mel and Geri when they were finally brought face-to-face, but it seems the last minute change in plans gave them both time to cool off.

So will it be all peace and harmony while back on the road with the girls?

‘I hope so! Who knows?’ Emma joked. ‘The thing is, being in a girl band, there’s something that connects us so deeply that yeah, we’re going to have these little things – families do. But as soon as we get back together, we’re like kids at school.’

‘We’ve all got children, the children come to rehearsals, they all hang out, we haven’t got time to be [fighting],’ she added.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10.30am on ITV.
