Miley Cyrus has split from husband Liam Hemsworth, but already has a new conquest on lock in the form of Kaitlynn Carter.
On 11 August, a rep for the star confirmed she and Liam had separated after eight months of marriage, saying: ‘Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.
‘They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.’
But instead of sobbing into a pint of vegan Ben and Jerry’s, Miley has been out there living her life and packing on the PDA with Kaitlynn – Brody Jenner’s ex-wife.
It has been claimed that Liam, 29, wanted to settle down while Miley, 26, still wanted to explore her sexuality, as she identifies as pansexual – that is, not being limited to sexual choice in regards to sex, gender or gender identity.
A source told The Sun: ‘Their marriage is over and Liam is absolutely heartbroken but Miley is making up for lost time. e wants to settle down and have a conventional family including kids, but that couldn’t be further from what Miley is after right now.
‘She made it clear she wanted to be able to have fun with other people — men and women — but it’s always been something he’s had a hard time understanding.’
The artist formerly known as Hannah Montana first met Liam in 2009 on the set of The Last Song, and the pair got engaged in 2012. However, when they split in 2013, Miley embarked on her infamous Can’t-Be-Tamed-twerking-on-stage-with-Robin-Thicke phase, and began exploring her sexuality.
In 2015, the Wrecking Ball singer was pictured kissing Victoria’s Secret model Stella Maxwell (who is now dating Kristen Stewart) and in the same year, Miley addressed rumours about her sexuality.
She told Paper magazine: ‘I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age. Everything that’s legal, I’m down with. Yo, I’m down with any adult — anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me.
‘I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl.’
And the following year, Miley said that she realised she was pansexual when she met someone who identified as such at an LGBTQ+ centre.
She told Variety: ‘My whole life, I didn’t understand my own gender and my own sexuality. I always hated the word “bisexual”, because that’s even putting me in a box. I don’t ever think about someone being a boy or someone being a girl. Also, my nipple pasties and s*** never felt sexualized to me.
‘My eyes started opening in the fifth or sixth grade. My first relationship in my life was with a chick. I grew up in a very religious Southern family.’
Miley added: ‘Once I understood my gender more, which was unassigned, then I understood my sexuality more. I was like, “Oh—that’s why I don’t feel straight and I don’t feel gay. It’s because I’m not”.’
While she had a fling with Stella and dated Patrick Schwarzenegger, Miley reunited with The Hunger Games star Liam in 2016, getting re-engaged and tying the knot in December 2018.
And Miley was keen to explain that while she was in a monogamous heterosexual relationship, she is still pansexual.
The star told Vanity Fair: ‘The reason that people get married sometimes can be old-fashioned, but I think the reason we got married isn’t old-fashioned — I actually think it’s kind of New Age.
‘We’re redefining, to be f***ing frank, what it looks like for someone that’s a queer person like myself to be in a hetero relationship. A big part of my pride and my identity is being a queer person.’
And Miley said that while she was committed to Liam, she was still sexually attracted to women.

She explained to Elle: ‘I think it’s very confusing to people that I’m married. But my relationship is unique. And I don’t know that I would ever publicly allow people in there because it’s so complex, and modern, and new that I don’t think we’re in a place where people would get it.
‘I mean, do people really think that I’m at home in a f***ing apron cooking dinner? I’m in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women.
‘People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still f***ing good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don’t fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don’t even like that word.’
Now, Miley seems to be getting over her break-up with Kaitlynn, 30, who split from husband Brody after six years together and one year of marriage.
It seems like something is in the water.
