You can always rely on Essex’s royal couple Gemma Collins and James ‘Arg’ Argent to brighten your day, and that’s exactly what they did when they FaceTimed into Heart Radio… from bed.
Arg was set to appear on the Breakfast show in person but decided it was far too early to get up, so he did the next best thing and video called presenters Kelly Brook and JK. And lucky us, because it meant we got a welcome appearance from The GC herself.
And if seeing the pair cuddling up together wasn’t sweet enough, Gemma took the opportunity to fawn over her boyfriend’s body.
When asked about Arg’s brief time as stripping on The Real Full Monty (all for a good cause, of course), she replied: ‘I absolutely loved it. I think to raise awareness for an absolutely amazing cause [the show raises awareness for testicular and prostate cancer] is brilliant.
‘And I get to celebrate this body on a daily basis,’ she quipped while tucked under Arg’s arm. ‘I was happy for everyone to have a little sneaky look for two minutes.’
Gemma’s love for Arg’s figure is a departure for the couple, who regularly embarrass each other – and us – over their bodily functions. In a recent appearance on Celebrity Juice during a game of Mr & Mrs, the stars admitted that Arg sometimes rubs his hand on his groin and makes Gemma smell it.
‘It smells like horse manure,’ Gemma explained with more joy than you’d expect.
In the same episode, Gemma told host Keith Lemon that Arg ‘regularly’ soils the bed, and once pretended a stain was ice cream in an effort to make his girlfriend smell it. Gross.
Hopefully it wasn’t on the same sheets the couple were lying on while FaceTiming, as Gemma said they were flown in from Milan specially for her and had a threadcount high enough for the self-proclaimed ‘queen of Essex’.
The couple were talking to Heart about Arg’s recent decision to raise money for Cancer Research UK by taking part in the Race For Life. ‘It’s something close to my heart,’ explained the reality TV star, ‘my grandad died of prostate cancer.’
The annual Race For Life is usually reserved for women and girls to raise awareness and money to tackle breast cancer, but – in an effort to revamp the fundraising event – Cancer Research UK have now asked men to get more involved.
‘I’m so excited because it’s the first time boys are doing it this year. I’m taking part in the one in Chelmsford and apparently it’s going to be very muddy,’ Arg said with a hint of a nervous smile.
Kelly and JK encouraged the 31-year-old by saying that he could walk the race if he needed to, much to Gemma’s shock: ‘You can walk it?! I should’ve taken part then!
‘That’s the only reason I’ve never done one of those things. I thought I can’t run that far but if I can walk it we should get involved.’
We can’t wait to see you in a neon pink tutu next year GC.
