Gillian Anderson has officially started work as Maggie Thatcher on The Crown season 4 – with the transformation.
The Sex Education star joined the cast of the much loved series documenting the life of Queen Elizabeth and her time on the throne, and is due to appear as the show hits the 80s.
It seems time waits for no one when acting out politics and the monarchy, and with season three about to drop next month, season four has already begun filming.
Spotted dressed in the former Prime Ministers recognisable, hairsprayed hairdo, Gillian was seen dressed in The Iron Lady’s traditional blue colour as she filmed scenes where she got off of a boat.
Rumours that Gillian would play the Iron Lady started back in January, but was only confirmed in September ahead of the release of season three.
The 51-year-old actress said: ‘I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of The Crown and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman.
‘Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.’
Gillian will be joining the ranks of esteemed portrayals of the controversial politician, which includes Meryl Streep in the 2011 awards darling, The Iron Lady.
Thatcher will play a major role in Queen Elizabeth’s life as the show reaches the 1980s, and is likely to cover major moments in UK history including the Falkland’s War and the Miners’ Strike.
The Prime Minister eventually resigned from her position in 1990 after 11 years in the role.
No doubt there will be lots to say between the Conservative leader, who as the First female Prime Minister, made divisive and controversial decisions that tarnished her time in Downing Street, and Queen Elizabeth, played by Olivia Colman.

She joins Emma Corrin, who has been cast as Lady Diana Spencer in series four.
The third series will cover 1964 until 1977 – including Harold Wilson’s time as Prime Minister, the moon landing, the decolonisation of Africa and the Caribbean and Princess Margaret’s affair with Roddy Llewellyn.
The Crown season 3 drops 17 November on Netflix.
