Music royalty Beyonce and Jay-Z have been at the top of the pop culture echelon for more years than Bey’s perpetual agelessness would have you believe.
Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z, aka Shawn Corey Carter, who have endured plenty of ups and downs as the heads of one of the most famous families in the entire world, celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary earlier this month.
The world-dominating couple have been together since 2008, and have withstood not just the scrutiny of the public eye, but the arrival of their kids and Jay Z’s infidelity – which was strongly alluded to in Bey’s 2016 album Lemonade, and which Jay Z openly admitted to in his album 4:44 the following year.
As new details of Beyonce’s terrifying labour ordeal have emerged, let’s take a closer look at the Carter clan…

How many children do Beyonce and Jay Z have?
Beyonce, 37, and Jay Z, 49, have three children together – their eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, who is six, and one-year-old fraternal twins Rumi and Sir, who were born in June 2017.
Blue Ivy has already become something of a regular fixture in pop-culture related headlines, as she’s shown herself to be unafraid to speak her mind, and every bit as embarrassed by her parents’ PDA as we are when our mums and dads get a little too close for comfort in front of us.
In a documentary back in 2013, Life is But a Dream, Beyonce spoke out about the miscarriage that she endured months before she became pregnant with Blue Ivy, saying it was: ‘the saddest thing I’ve ever been through’.
Now, Beyonce has revealed how hard it was giving birth to her twins in the new Netflix documentary Homecoming.
Bey said that one of the twins’ heartbeats ‘paused a few times’.
On the topic of her pregnancy and delivery, she said: ‘I was supposed to do Coachella the year prior but, I got pregnant unexpectedly. And it ended up being twins which was even more of a surprise to me.
‘My body went through more than I knew it could. I was 218 pounds the day I gave birth. I had an extremely difficult pregnancy, high blood pressure.
‘I developed toxemia, preeclampsia, and in the room, one of my baby’s heartbeats paused a few times so I had to get an emergency c-section,’ Bey continued.
Thankfully though, everyone got through it safe and sound in the end, and the Carters welcomed two new members of their family into the world.
If you want to hear about it, and other Beyonce related updates straight from Sasha Fierce herself, then you can tune into Homecoming on Netflix now.
