James Haskell may have had a shock to the system when faced with the rations in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, but he made the most of being voted out of the jungle with his first meal.
The rugby player, 34, became the fourth person to be voted out by the public, but he didn’t look too sad about it as he tucked into pizza and beer at the luxurious Palazzo Versace hotel.
He told his followers: ‘Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me! Sadly I didn’t make the cut but I loved every second of my @imacelebrity experience!
‘The most important thing to me is the opinion and respect of my fellow camp mates, with whom I have lived for the last 17 days. I was truly touched and humbled by their reactions this morning in camp.
‘Also cannot thank @andrewismaxwell , @adeleroberts and @cliffparisi enough for their amazingly kind and generous words to me today. Here’s to another slice [of pizza] and [beer], and on to the next adventure.’
James, who usually eats around 4000 calories a day to maintain his physique, revealed on Tuesday’s show that the extreme lack of calories compared to what he’s used to took its toll on his body.
He explained on the show: ‘My body started to shut down bizarrely, but it was the fact that I couldn’t walk past jobs that weren’t done, so if the water needed topping up, I’d go and fill it up.
‘I was up and down the stairs the whole time and I was burning a lot of calories and a lot of adrenaline, and, obviously, all the walking to go to the trials.
‘I couldn’t concentrate and my legs… I had nothing in my legs, I was getting very tired.’
At least James now gets to tuck into delicious meals in the luxurious surroundings while watching everyone else exist on rice, beans and whatever exotic delicacy gets lowered into the camp if they win enough stars.
We know where we’d rather be…
