The series has focused on a British soldier – Shaun Emery – who has been accused of killing his barrister Hannah Roberts, but some viewers are convinced she is still alive and in hiding.

In one Twitter theory, some fans thought they saw Hannah in an upstairs window of DI Rachel Carey’s parents’ house.

In one scene from the fifth episode, Rachel and Shaun arrived at the home, with a person visible at the window despite the fact her parents were away.

While it had been made clear her sister was still home, some viewers think it could have actually been Hannah.

Taking to Twitter, one shared a screenshot of the moment and wrote: “#TheCapture Who’s in the Top Window at the End of Ep 5 ?”

Another tweeted: “Was that actually Hannah in the uptairs window?#TheCapture.”

A third agreed, writing: “I can’t be only one who thinks the person in the upstairs window at the end is gonna be Hannah??#TheCapture.”

The thriller has left viewers questioning who is actually in on the conspiracy to expose Correction, which is the planting of manipulated footage in CCTV feeds used by the authorities to incriminate suspects.

The Pilgrims are trying to expose the Capture, but at what cost?

While Hannah had originally teamed up with activist group the Pilgrims to expose it, it appeared to backfire with Frank Napier deciding to kill Hannah for real and frame Shaun.

But considering the amount of twists and turns that have already happened during the series, fans will have to wait and see tonight if Hannah is actually dead or their theory is true.

The Capture airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
