Meghan King, a former Real Housewives of Orange County cast member, revealed her son has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. This comes just one year after she shared his Periventricular Leukomalacia diagnosis.
The former reality star has had quite the touch year. Before the diagnosis, she and now ex-husband Jim Edmonds got a divorce after a very tumultuous relationship. Meghan and Jim have tried to come together to support their son by both documenting their son’s progress on social media, from oxygen therapies to chiropractor visits.
According to Us Weekly, Meghan’s her 2-year-old son, Hart, has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy according to her blog post from Tuesday October, 2. The mother of 3 explained that she was expecting the diagnosis and felt relieved after the confirmation. “Even though he’s the same kid, I expected it to hit me hard. But it didn’t. It didn’t hit me hard at all. In fact, I felt relieved. … This is the once dreadful diagnosis I knew was coming… CP. I knew it was CP since Hart was a few months old.” The 36-year-old went on to explain what CP is, defining it not as a brain paralysis, but that there are areas of damage on the brain. She added that, “CP quite simply manifests as a motor disorder. That’s it. Yep. It has nothing to do with cognitive function, hearing, etc.” Meghan concluded that this changes nothing about her son and that he is still the same little guy from before the diagnosis. Her son will continue to receive therapy and mentioned that he is already doing better.
Meghan welcomed Hart in 2018 with her ex-husband Jim Edmonds along with Hart’s twin brother, Hayes. The former couple also share 3 year old daughter, Aspen, together. When she first revealed Hart had some brain damage in a blog post, she described it as, “minor Periventricular Leukomalacia on both sides of his brain” with more of the damage on the right side. When Meghan discovered what was wrong, it answered all of the concerns she had like, “the rigidity in his muscles…the lack of fluidity with arm and leg movements, the stiffness in joints…“, etc. At least now Meghan can rest easy knowing the exact diagnosis of her son and not have it be unknown anymore.
Meghan must feel so much release knowing the diagnosis of her son, Hart. She has been very open with her fans about Hart’s treatments, which can help other mothers who may be experiencing the same or be in similar situations.
