Currently available in 14 countries and regions across three continents, Emergency SOS via satellite has made a significant impact on users’ lives. This unprecedented safety service will be introduced in Spain and Switzerland by the end of this month.
As we build on the foundation of this next-generation satellite, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus kickstart assistance by connecting to the satellite. Starting in the United States, when a user faces trouble while driving and cellular and Wi-Fi coverage is unavailable, they can now connect to the country’s largest roadside assistance provider, AAA. With a brief questionnaire and an intuitive interface to gather crucial details, the satellite will transmit information so that AAA can reach out to the user directly and dispatch assistance to their precise location. Satellite-assisted roadside assistance will be available for free for two years. The service is covered under an AAA membership, but it is also available separately for non-members.

The iPhone 15 lineup introduces new conveniences for charging, locating friends in busy places, and staying connected during travels. Both models use USB-C connectors, which are universally accepted for charging and transferring data, allowing users to charge iPhone, Mac, iPad, and the updated AirPods Pro (second generation) with a single cable. Both models include 75% recycled aluminum in the enclosure, 100% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets, and 100% recycled gold in the USB-C connector, as well as soldering using recycled tin in several printed circuit boards. Over 99% of the packaging is fiber-based, helping Apple get closer to its goal of eliminating plastic from its packaging by 2025.
To further minimize its impact on the planet, Apple will no longer use leather in any new Apple products, including iPhone accessories.
